1 Pixel Workout
1 Pixel Workout is a browser extension that turns the urge to scroll distracting sites into a 60-second workout break.
The Problem
Desk workers who spend long stretches in meetings and tabs often fill small gaps between tasks by scrolling instead of resting. The scrolling feels like a break but leaves them guilty, still tired, and behind, so they return to work with less energy than before. Over time this daily pattern of sitting and mindless scrolling compounds into stiff necks, rounded shoulders, and a 3pm mental fog. The habit is automatic, so people keep repeating it even though it does not actually restore them.
The Solution
1 Pixel Workout is a site blocker and browser extension that intercepts the moment a user is about to open a distracting site and replaces it with a short movement session instead. Each session combines two or more strength and stretch exercises, takes as little as 60 seconds, and requires no equipment or gym clothes. Users can always skip a prompted workout, after which a 15-minute cooldown period passes before the next interruption, making the system non-punitive. The extension is open source under an MIT license, with site lists stored locally in the browser rather than on company servers, and the workouts are also available on a standalone web platform without needing the extension installed.
