The Problem

Teams building APIs need visibility into traffic, errors, performance and consumer usage, but existing monitoring platforms are described as complex to set up and operate. Developers need to catch issues like downtime, traffic spikes, errors and performance bottlenecks before they affect users, and to debug individual requests by tracing headers, payloads, logs and slow database or external API calls. Without this, teams risk unreliable APIs and slow troubleshooting. Apitally's own customers (per testimonials) mention it replaced or reduced reliance on more cumbersome monitoring stacks.

The Solution

Apitally is an API monitoring and analytics tool that integrates via SDKs into web frameworks like FastAPI, Django, Express, NestJS, Spring Boot, Gin, Hono and others, added with just a few lines of code and no infrastructure changes. It provides dashboards for traffic, errors, performance and consumer adoption, plus request logs and traces that let users inspect headers, payloads, correlated application logs, and pinpoint slow queries or external calls. It offers custom alerts across 14 metrics, uptime and health checks, and Slack/Microsoft Teams notifications. A CLI and agent skill give AI agents like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex access to API metrics and logs for investigations, chosen over an MCP server approach for token efficiency. Data privacy controls let users mask or exclude sensitive information, and SDKs are open-source.
