ASCII Magic
A free browser-based tool that turns photos and videos into ASCII art, pixel art, and 100+ other stylized effects.
The Problem
People who want to turn photos or videos into ASCII art, pixel art, halftone, glitch, or similar stylized effects otherwise need to hunt across many separate single-purpose tools or editors, often with uploads, signups, or limited style options. Creators making wallpapers, video intros, posters, or UI mockups need an easy way to apply and combine effects like dithering, voxel, mosaic, or LEGO-style rendering without manual setup. Getting a specific aesthetic (like Matrix code, film noir, or vaporwave) typically means manually tuning many parameters rather than having a one-click starting point. Developers or agents that want to generate this kind of art programmatically have no simple drop-in way to call such a pipeline from their own tools.
The Solution
ASCII Magic is a free, browser-based image and video stylizer that converts photos and videos into ASCII art, pixel art, voxel, mosaic, halftone, glitch, LEGO, and over 100 other effects, with no upload to a server and no signup required. It includes a library of post-processing effects (vignette, scanlines, CRT curvature, chromatic aberration, bloom, film grain, glitch, halftone, pixelate, and more) that can be stacked and rendered in real time in the browser, plus one-click 'recipes' that open the tool with a full preset style (e.g. Matrix Code, Film Noir, Vaporwave, C64 Palette Dither) already configured. It also offers 171 AI generative presets that can be steered with a prompt, strength, and resolution setting. Exports go up to 4K resolution. The tool is also exposed via an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, letting AI agents in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or other MCP clients call the same style library, post-processing pipeline, and 4K export directly through a single config line.
