Callisto
Callisto is a mobile app that finds, scores and helps artists apply to residencies, grants and open calls.
The Problem
Working artists spend more time hunting for opportunities than making work. Residencies, grants and open calls are scattered across institutional websites, mailing lists and Notion docs, and most artists discover them too late or not at all. The text claims Callisto tracks 12,400+ opportunities across 800+ institutions and 60+ countries, which gives a sense of how fragmented the landscape is. Writing tailored applications and keeping track of deadlines and results across many submissions is also described as time consuming and hard to keep legible over a year.
The Solution
Callisto is described as an art career studio app on iOS, Android and Telegram. Artists set their media, career stage, geography and preferences, then get a daily-refreshed feed of residencies, grants, open calls, fellowships, awards and commissions, each given an AI Fit Score from 0 to 100 with line-by-line reasoning. The app can generate a tailored first draft from the artist's CV, portfolio and the call's brief, with every claim traceable to its source, and includes a CV builder with a completion meter and a tracker that follows applications from sent to result with reminders and acceptance-rate stats. It also runs Callisto Originals, its own fully funded residencies, exhibitions and grants produced with partner galleries, open only to members, and vets every listed opportunity (including its own) against an anti-predatory checklist for fees, rights grabs and unclear terms. A free Callisto Library offers forty guides on artist CVs, statements, pricing and galleries, open to anyone without an account.
