The Problem

People who set personal goals often struggle to follow through without any real consequence for failing. Typical goal-setting methods, like writing down a resolution or telling a friend, carry no financial stakes and are easy to abandon. CashCommit's site frames this as a lack of accountability: without something meaningful on the line, goals are easy to let slide past their deadline.

The Solution

CashCommit has users define a specific goal, set a deadline, and commit an amount of money they are willing to risk. The service checks in with users to help keep them on track while they work toward the goal. Before the deadline, users must log in and upload proof that they completed the goal; if they do, they are not charged, and if they don't, the committed amount is charged to the payment method they set up (with an active card check at signup). Payments are processed through Stripe, and the company states customer data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit via TLS, working only with SOC 2 Type II compliant vendors.
