The Problem

Shopify merchants lose sales when anonymous visitors abandon a product page, and email flows like Klaviyo can't reach these shoppers because no address was ever captured. Existing exit popups typically just collect an email for later follow-up rather than closing the sale on the spot. Merchants also struggle to know whether a discount actually caused a sale or just gave away margin on an order that would have happened anyway. Clinch's own FAQ acknowledges this: holdout testing exists because cannibalisation is a real risk with every discount.

The Solution

Clinch triggers one single-use offer, scoped to the specific product or collection the shopper was viewing, at the moment of exit intent on desktop or session break on mobile, without ever asking for an email. Merchants set rules such as a margin floor (Margin Guard, off by default), which products qualify, and whether to exclude B2B or repeat buyers, and Clinch only offers a discount, free shipping or gift within those bounds. Each code is single-use, expires quickly, and every recovered sale is tied to a real, openable Shopify order ID rather than modelled attribution; refunds credit the commission back automatically. It explicitly avoids clashing with email tools by staying silent if a cart already has a discount code applied, and pricing is commission-based (10%, 3%, or a flat $99/month with no commission) tied only to the discounted subtotal of attributed orders.
