The Problem

Mac users juggle many small utilities and glanceable info sources while working: a YouTube tutorial playing beside code, a Pomodoro timer, music controls, meeting reminders, screenshots, and for developers, agent activity, GitHub reviews, and SSH sessions. Normally these live in separate windows, browser tabs, or apps that clutter the screen or require switching away from the current task. Dots frames this as wasted space and attention, using the otherwise unused notch area at the top of the Mac display as the alternative location for these tools.

The Solution

Dots turns the MacBook notch into a small persistent workspace with a toolbar, widget board, and connections to apps and services. Users can drag a YouTube link onto the notch to play video without leaving their work, run Pomodoro timers shown as a ring of dots, spin album art as a vinyl record for playback, take scrolling screenshots that stitch into one image, convert dropped images or videos into other formats, and draw or highlight directly on screen during a presentation. For developers, it offers connections to live coding-agent activity, GitHub pull request reviews, SSH sessions, and team tasks. The app includes customizable 'companion' characters and a configurable preview of a few chosen widgets (music, meetings, to-dos, Pomodoro).
