The Problem

Freelancers and business owners with irregular income cannot predict how much money they will have on a future date. They see a healthy bank balance and feel fine, then get surprised by rent, tax payments, or subscription renewals hitting at once. Clients pay on their own schedule despite Net 30 terms, so income arrives unpredictably while bills do not wait. Traditional budgeting tools assume a steady biweekly paycheck and only show where money already went, which does not help someone deciding whether they can afford a purchase next month.

The Solution

Fincaster lets users add expected income (client invoices, even late ones) and expenses (rent, subscriptions, quarterly tax bills, one-time costs) with their dates, which the site says takes about 10 minutes. It then calculates a running day-by-day projected bank balance, displayed with red for danger zones and green for safe periods, so users can check a specific future date like March 23rd before making a spending decision. Users can update entries whenever a client pays early or late, and the entire forecast recalculates instantly. The site positions this as different from tools like Mint (historical charts), YNAB (category budgeting), spreadsheets, or banking apps (current balance only), none of which show a forward-looking balance.
