Small studios, church AV teams, and solo streamers running multi-camera or multi-scene productions often need vMix or Wirecast style operation, but those products bundle an encoding/compositing engine together with the staging workflow and charge accordingly, with vMix listed at $60 to $1,200 lifetime or up to $50/mo depending on tier. OBS Studio already provides a free, mature encoding engine, but on its own it lacks a real Preview-before-Live staging model, a clickable shot library organized into layers, or dedicated always-on confidence monitors. Teams that want that operator workflow are left either paying for a full paid switcher they may not otherwise need, or manually rebuilding OBS scenes every time they change what's on screen.

FrameSW installs as a native desktop control layer that connects to an existing OBS Studio install via WebSocket, creating its own dedicated OBS Profile and Scene Collection so nothing else in a user's OBS setup is touched. It gives operators a shot grid organized into layers (cameras, clips, titles, lower thirds), a Preview stage to build up the next shot, and one TAKE button that cuts it live using OBS's own Studio Mode transition.
