The Problem

Engineers who want to show what they actually built have mainly resumes, portfolios, or self-reported claims about their code, which hiring teams cannot easily verify. Employers reviewing applicants must trust unverified statements or run generic interviews that may not reflect real engineering ability. The page frames this as a gap between claimed skills and demonstrated capability, where neither side has a clear, checkable record of what someone did in a codebase.

The Solution

Fydell lets engineers build an "Engineering Passport" from their projects, where the system inspects submitted code and produces findings that cite specific files and line ranges at a pinned revision, kept separate from the engineer's own stated description of their work. Each finding also states what it could not verify, such as missing test coverage for a particular path. The product also includes timed Simulations, realistic engineering tasks with a brief, a codebase, and a simulated team thread, completed through a desktop app on Windows or macOS. For employers, a Hiring Workspace lets teams review applicants requirement by requirement, opening the underlying code rather than relying on a score; Fydell states explicitly that it does not rank or score candidates. Engineers control sharing by choosing which projects and pinned versions to send per application, with the ability to set expiry or revoke access.
