Help You Buy a Business
Helps aspiring business buyers figure out if, and what kind of, business purchase fits them
The Problem
People who dream of owning a business often start by browsing listings on sites like BizBuySell without knowing what to look for. They try to size up businesses before understanding their own work preferences, finances, or skills, which leads to guesswork and stalled searches with too many open tabs and no answers. Listings show earnings figures but rarely show what an owner's actual days look like. Buyers also often misunderstand financing, assuming they need to pay the full price up front, and most don't know how to scrutinize a seller's reported cash flow figures.
The Solution
Help You Buy a Business offers a set of assessments that start with the buyer rather than the listings. The free Business Fit assessment asks how someone likes to work and produces a shortlist of three kinds of business that fit them. The free Financial Fit assessment maps what a buyer could invest, income needed to live on, and cash reserves, showing financing paths like seller financing, SBA loans, and all cash with concrete payment comparisons. Owner Readiness, still in development, will show which parts of an owner's job (sales, operations, marketing, finance, systems, people) a buyer already brings versus needs to learn or hire out. Deal Fit, a paid report ($19 single, $99 for ten, first one free after completing the other assessments) lets a buyer paste or upload a specific listing to see how it compares against their Fit Profile, including a deal numbers breakdown and a draft email to the broker.
