helumi
Helumi adds a cloud drive to the Mac that streams huge files instantly without using local disk space.
The Problem
Mac users who work with large files, such as video editors, photographers, musicians, and designers, run out of local storage quickly because services like iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive require downloading an entire file before it can be opened. This forces people to delete footage, photos, or projects just to free up space, and waiting for a 48GB file to download before editing wastes time. The page shows a Mac almost full with video, RAW photo, and audio project files, and cites the pain of near-full disk warnings and deletion prompts as a familiar daily frustration.
The Solution
Helumi installs as a menu bar app and adds a new drive in Finder that sits next to Macintosh HD, giving access to terabytes of cloud storage (up to 30TB mentioned) while using zero bytes on the local disk. Files look and behave like normal local files but only the portion being viewed or played is streamed, so a 48GB video can start playing in under a second instead of downloading fully first. It supports editing directly from apps like DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, iMovie, and CapCut, lets users keep specific folders available offline, share files via links, recover deleted files for 30 days, and access files from any browser or phone. All files are end to end encrypted so only the user holds the key, not even Helumi.
