The Problem

People trying to quit smoking often struggle with relapse and lack a simple way to see tangible progress or get help in the moment a craving hits. The creator, Oleg Plugaru, describes trying to quit many times since starting at age 13 and wanting a tool that showed him what he was getting back in time, money, and cigarettes avoided. Many existing options either require an account, feel clinical or preachy, or don't offer something to do in the moment an urge arrives. Without a lightweight way to track progress and manage cravings, people quitting smoking are left to rely on willpower alone.

The Solution

iQ is a free-to-start iPhone app, requiring no account, that tracks smoke-free time and estimates money saved and cigarettes skipped based on habits the user enters. Its Craving SOS feature offers short activities like breathing guides or walks when an urge hits, and lets users log triggers to notice their own patterns. Users can set one free personal savings goal tied to something they want, with the option to add a photo for meaning, and Premium unlocks more active goals and deeper craving insights. The app integrates with iPhone features including Home and Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, Siri voice commands, system controls, an Apple Watch companion with guided breathing, support for iPhone Duo's dual displays, and seven accessibility features including VoiceOver and Voice Control.
