The Problem

Teams running CI on GitHub-hosted runners pay by the minute even when jobs finish early, and at scale this adds up fast; the founders say CI cost over $50K a month at their last company. Existing cheaper alternatives like Namespace, Blacksmith, WarpBuild and Depot still bill by the minute or carry higher per-minute rates, wasting money on unused time. Switching runners typically risks extra configuration work for caching and tooling.

The Solution

Jog is a drop-in replacement for GitHub's hosted runners: you change one line (runs-on: jog) in a workflow file and nothing else. It runs jobs on its own hardware, giving each job a freshly sized VM, and bills by the second rather than the minute, so a job that finishes at 0:25 isn't charged for a full minute like with GitHub, Blacksmith, WarpBuild or Namespace. Caching for npm, Docker, Go, Node, Python, Rust and Gradle works automatically with zero extra config. Runners come in sizes from 2 to 32 vCPU (jog and jog-max tiers), support personal GitHub accounts and organizations, and there's no subscription: usage is paid from prepaid credit ($100 at a time, $20-$100 for personal accounts), with 5,000 free minutes a month and refundable unused credit.
