LAFIA
LAFIA turns uploaded lab test reports into plain-language interpretations in multiple languages for everyday consumers.
The Problem
People who receive lab test results often find them written in clinical language with numeric values and reference ranges that are hard to interpret without a medical background. Today they may wait for a doctor's appointment, search online, or simply not understand what their results mean for their health. This creates a gap between having data and understanding it, especially for those managing results in a non-native language. LAFIA addresses this by offering an educational interpretation service focused on making lab reports understandable.
The Solution
LAFIA lets users upload a lab report as a PDF or image and receive a plain-language explanation of each value, with most standard reports processed within a few minutes. The service offers output in eight languages (English, Arabic, Turkish, Italian, Spanish, Polish, French, German) plus an auto-detect option that can preserve additional languages present in the original report. Outputs include full result classification and a downloadable PDF, with email notification when ready. The company states it applies privacy-minded safeguards to uploaded reports and explains its data practices, and is explicit that its interpretations are educational and not a substitute for a doctor.
