Needle
Needle finds buyers actively discussing problems on Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub and other public communities for SaaS
The Problem
SaaS founders and niche B2B teams need to find prospective customers who are already discussing their problem or evaluating solutions, but these people are scattered across Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Overflow, X, LinkedIn and many other public communities. Checking each site manually means reading a dozen tabs daily and still only catching the sites you remember to check. Plain keyword alerts solve the coverage problem but flood users with every match, including memes, tutorials, job posts and off-topic chatter, ordered newest-first rather than by relevance. Needle states that it throws away 83% of posts matching a customer's keywords as noise, and that only about 1 in 20 posts read is a strong buying signal, meaning most of the effort in manual or alert-based searching is wasted.
The Solution
Needle is a buyer-intent search tool that tracks keywords a customer defines across public communities including Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Overflow, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, YouTube, Mastodon, Lobsters, Tumblr, Forums and Product Hunt. It filters out spam, off-topic posts and noise, then scores each remaining match with a buying-intent score (for example 94, 86, 71) and ranks results highest-intent first. Leads are tagged Hot lead, Worth engaging, or Monitor, and top conversations are delivered to Slack, MS Teams, Google Chat, Discord, webhooks or a scheduled digest. The product also offers an AI-drafted reply feature, integrations with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Notion and Airtable, and use-case workflows for lead discovery, idea validation, competitor research, product feedback and content strategy. Needle reports that 98% of leads surface within 24 hours of posting.
