Neurture
Neurture makes a mobile app with science-backed tools to help people manage cravings and urges like food, porn, gambling
The Problem
People trying to change compulsive but subclinical habits, such as food cravings, adult content use, gambling, or drinking, often have no in-the-moment support when an urge actually hits. Therapy can be too costly, too scheduling-intensive, or not the right fit for behaviors that do not rise to a clinical level, leaving a gap between doing nothing and seeking formal treatment. Existing options do not offer a private, structured way to track triggers and outcomes over time or to practice evidence-based coping skills between sessions. This leaves people repeating the same loops without a clear, low-friction next step when a craving arises.
The Solution
Neurture is an app that offers over 75 guided interventions built on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention. It includes urge surfing, box breathing, 5-4-3-2-1 grounding, thought reframing tools like the Thought Trap Challenge, journaling, and check-ins that let users track urges, triggers, and outcomes to build a personalized craving management plan. Content is reviewed by licensed clinicians and is positioned as a subclinical, supplementary tool rather than a replacement for therapy. The app also offers a free downloadable one-page 'Urge Rescue Sheet' as a lead resource, and has separate informational pages aimed at organizational buyers such as employers, universities, treatment centers, professional programs, and therapists.
