Generic AI chatbots offer speed but invent cases and cite law that does not exist, making them unsafe for legal work that must be defensible in court. Meanwhile research, drafts, and hearing dates end up scattered across tabs and folders, so context is lost when a junior picks up a brief or a partner reviews it. The result is that legal teams must choose between slow, reliable manual research and fast, unreliable generic AI.

Niyam lets users ask legal questions in plain English and returns answers grounded in a corpus of over 72,000 Indian Supreme Court and High Court judgments, statutes, rules, and gazette notifications, with every answer linked to the exact section or paragraph it relied on. A citator feature shows whether a precedent has been followed, distinguished, referred to, or overruled by later courts, flagging good-law status before it is cited in an argument. A drafting module generates first drafts from a clause library grounded in the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and reviews counterparty paper to flag risky indemnity, liability, and governing-law clauses with explained, citable suggestions. A Matters feature groups research, drafts, notices, and hearing dates under each proceeding so teams can share files with context intact, and the company states user work product is never used to train public models.
