The Problem

Developers who build static sites with generators like Next.js, Astro, Hugo, or Docusaurus store content as Markdown and MDX files in Git repositories. This works well for developers but leaves clients or non-technical teammates unable to edit content without a GitHub account or comfort with Git workflows. Existing options often mean adopting a database-backed CMS, giving up Git as the source of truth, or asking clients to learn GitHub just to change text. This creates friction for agencies and developers who need to hand off content editing to people who should not have to touch code or commit history.

The Solution

Outstatic adds a full editing dashboard on top of an existing Git repository, so content stays as Markdown and MDX files with GitHub as the source of truth and no database required. It sets up in about 5 minutes, supports custom fields for metadata or structured content, and includes AI Completion to help draft articles or copy. With the PRO tier, clients can log in via email magic link or Google instead of needing a GitHub account, and their edits are committed automatically as the Outstatic Bot, with team roles and permissions available. It works across many static site generators including Next.js, Astro, Hugo, Docusaurus, Nuxt, SvelteKit, and others.
