Papa
Papa is a free Mac menu-bar app that nags solo builders with a morning task list, site time limits, and sales cheers.
The Problem
Solo builders and indie founders often lack anyone checking in on their daily goals, so tasks slip and procrastination on sites like YouTube goes unchecked. There is no one to celebrate a Stripe sale landing or to ask, at the end of the day, whether the plan was actually done. Existing habit or blocker apps do not combine a daily task check-in, site time limits, and payment-linked encouragement in one place living on the Mac itself.
The Solution
Papa sits in the MacBook notch (or a pill on non-notch screens) and asks for up to three tasks each morning, then checks at a chosen evening time which of them got done. It can set a daily time limit on time-wasting sites in Safari or Chrome, escalating with reminders if the limit is passed, and in the Pro version applies this to unlimited sites plus adds a 'belt' consequence if no sales land by evening. Connecting a read-only Stripe or Dodo Payments key lets Papa react to each sale with today's revenue and MRR. The app also offers quiet hours, a weekly day off, a daily cap on nudges, focus mute, streaks, approval levels, and small in-app games, with English or Hinglish language options and data described as staying local on the user's Mac.
