Plausible Analytics
Plausible provides simple, privacy-friendly web analytics as a lightweight alternative to Google Analytics.
The Problem
Website owners, ecommerce shops, SaaS companies, agencies, publishers, and public sector sites currently rely on Google Analytics for web insights, but the page argues GA is frustrating to use, difficult to understand, slow to load, and privacy-invasive. GA requires cookie banners and GDPR consent workflows, imposes heavy JavaScript that slows page speed and Core Web Vitals, and buries essential insights behind layers of menus, custom reports, and dashboards. This complexity and overhead costs site owners time, technical effort, and site performance, while raising privacy compliance burdens.
The Solution
Plausible provides a lightweight analytics script (54 times smaller than Google Analytics, saving 135KB of JavaScript per visitor) paired with a single-page dashboard showing essential stats without training. It tracks scroll depth automatically, monitors traffic from AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity, integrates Search Console for SEO performance, and tracks UTM campaigns with automatic channel grouping. Other named capabilities include a real-time dashboard updating every 30 seconds, codeless goal and revenue tracking, funnels and user journey analysis, and built-in bot filtering. The product is open source, EU-hosted on European-owned infrastructure, does not process personal data or use cookies, and offers a Google Analytics import feature plus tiered plans (Starter, Growth, Business, Enterprise) with features like team management, Stats API, SSO, and managed proxy at higher tiers.
