Knowledge workers on a Mac often need quick answers about what is currently on their screen, such as an error message, an email, or a document, but doing so today usually means copying text, switching to a chat tab, or taking screenshots to paste elsewhere. This context switching interrupts flow and slows down simple tasks like proofreading, explaining a concept, or drafting a reply. Typing itself is also often slower than speaking, but existing dictation tools do not integrate cleanly with drafting and inserting text where the cursor is. The result is repeated manual copy pasting and tab switching just to get a quick answer or write a message.

Prelto lets a user hold a key, speak, and get contextual answers about whatever is on their screen at that moment, including a selection, a window, or the whole screen, with the answer streaming in without needing to copy or screenshot anything. It also offers voice dictation: holding the key and speaking naturally turns speech into polished text inserted at the cursor once released. For drafting, Prelto shows a review card with the generated text (for example a rewritten email reply) and only inserts it after the user confirms. It also supports snippets, letting users save frequently typed items like a mailing address, Calendly link, or email signature and insert them with a word. Speech recognition runs locally on the Mac, while formatting, answers, and drafts are processed by managed cloud models under zero-data-retention terms, and dictation supports 25 European languages with automatic language detection.
