The Problem

Teams deploying autonomous coding and DevOps agents need a way to control what those agents are actually allowed to do, since agent actions like production deploys, refunds, or infrastructure changes can be consequential and currently run without consistent identity checks, policy enforcement, or audit trails. Without this, organizations are left trusting agent behavior on faith rather than verifying it, with no tamper-evident record of why an action was allowed or denied. Long-lived credentials and unchecked LLM output can silently override intended safeguards.

The Solution

Railpane acts as a gateway that every agent action passes through: it evaluates identity, delegated authority, and versioned policy, then allows, denies, or routes the action to a human for approval. It brokers temporary, scoped credentials per task instead of long-lived secrets, enforces execution through host sandboxing and MCP governance, and produces a signed receipt chaining evidence, policy version, approval, and result for each action. The platform is built on a set of open-source engines, including SettleAgent for authorization decisions, Paldron for runtime sandboxing, Rift for semantic code review, Annalist for execution evidence, Seal as a policy compiler, and Ballast for parallel git-worktree workspaces, each usable standalone with Railpane as the connecting trust layer. It offers SDKs (cURL, Python, Go), enterprise controls like SSO, audit exports, SIEM forwarding, Slack-based approvals, policy versioning and rollback, and fleet policy distribution.
