Resin EDA
Resin EDA is an AI-assisted PCB design platform for engineers, combining schematic capture, layout
The Problem
Hardware engineers designing printed circuit boards must manually hunt for component symbols and footprints, draft schematics from scratch, route boards by hand, and compile bills of materials and manufacturing files, often across disconnected tools. When a part has no existing library entry, engineers have to read datasheets themselves and build symbols and footprints manually. Keeping BOMs current with live pricing and stock, tracking design revisions, and watching for part obsolescence add further manual overhead. This leaves less time for actual circuit design and makes it hard to move quickly from idea to a manufacturable board.
The Solution
Resin EDA provides schematic and PCB editors, an autorouter, BOM management, 3D inspection, electrical and design-rule checks, and manufacturing exports in a single workspace. Its Resin AI feature can read datasheets to generate missing symbols and footprints, draft schematics from stated requirements while sourcing real purchasable parts, flag wiring and rating mistakes before layout, and run an autorouter that follows user-defined design rules while remaining fully editable. The platform keeps BOMs current with live pricing and stock from distributors, tracks version history with revision comparison, and flags obsolete parts with in-stock alternates. It also supports MCP integration so an external AI assistant can research parts, build a schematic, and prepare a PCB for review and approval inside Resin, and it imports and exports native KiCad and Altium files to avoid lock-in.
