The Problem

Developers of 1-50 MW solar, battery storage, EV charging and small data center projects typically find out whether the grid can support their project only after filing for interconnection, which requires paying fees and waiting months. The distribution grid is effectively a black box to them, so they often file on sites that turn out to have no capacity or prohibitively high upgrade costs. This trial and error approach wastes time and money across multiple site attempts before a workable point of interconnection is found.

The Solution

Ryhla builds models of each feeder on the distribution and subtransmission grid, trained on proprietary data, aligned with interconnection standards, and backtested against utility study results. Developers use these models to find sites, choose the feeder and point of interconnection, and size projects before ever filing. This lets clients file once on the best available site for capacity, cost and speed, rather than filing repeatedly and waiting on utility studies to learn the same information. Feeder-level models are live today across utility territories in Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, Colorado and Georgia, with more territories available on request.
