The Problem

Businesses need to know when websites they care about change, such as a competitor's pricing page, a product listing, or a regulatory site, but checking manually is slow and unreliable. The founder describes building ScrapX after running into this problem at a previous startup, where tracking competitors' site changes for competitive intelligence was done manually and inefficiently. The blog content also points to specific cases like German tax advisors who must manually check government websites for regulatory updates because no alerts are provided. Without automated monitoring, teams risk missing price changes, new features, design updates, or expiring SSL certificates until it is too late to react.

The Solution

ScrapX is a cloud-based website monitoring service that requires no installation, just adding a URL and selecting what to track. It offers Visual Detection for pixel-level design and UI changes, Textual Detection that lets users specify what to track in plain language (e.g. 'monitor the main headline') or via CSS selectors, and Data Extraction that turns unstructured pages into structured data like price, name, and stock status using AI. A Scraper API returns screenshots, raw HTML, or data extracts from JavaScript-rendered sites via a plain-text prompt. It also monitors technical elements like SSL expiry, subdomains, meta tags, and links, checks sites daily by default (with higher frequency on paid plans), and sends alerts via email or custom webhooks, supporting multi-user team access.
