The Problem

Mac users spend time on recurring digital busywork: following up with contacts, filling out forms, unsubscribing from junk email, booking travel, filing expense receipts and drafting replies that require pulling context from scattered notes, email threads and calendars. Today this requires manually reading through messages, remembering commitments, and typing out responses in one's own voice, or ignoring them until they become overdue, like ghosting a contact or missing a renewal deadline. The cost shows up as missed deadlines, unwanted subscription renewals, overdue replies, and time spent reconstructing context (for example gathering receipts scattered across three weeks of inbox) before a task can even start.

The Solution

Sentient OS is a macOS app with an on-device AI model that reads local sources the user enables, such as notes, Apple Mail, Apple Calendar, messages, files and screenshots, building a personal knowledge base stored as plain Markdown files on the user's Mac. Its 'Sidekick' feature operates the computer directly, using its own cursor to click, type and move between apps and the browser to complete tasks like filling out forms, unsubscribing from emails, ordering items or booking flights. 'Double Tap' drafts replies in the user's own writing style in two taps, using either a connected cloud AI account (ChatGPT, Claude, an API provider) or a local model for fully offline use. A 'Proactive intelligence' layer surfaces overdue items and prepared actions overnight, such as a drafted reply to an overdue contact, a flagged subscription renewal, or researched travel options, for the user to review and approve. Users can inspect, edit or delete everything the app has learned through a Knowledge window, and the app and its infrastructure are described as open-source.
