The Problem

Indie hackers and micro-SaaS founders often pay $20-50 per month for uptime monitoring tools like PagerDuty or Better Stack, which is expensive for tracking simple side projects or micro-services. Digital agencies and freelancers need to monitor many client sites and share transparent uptime reports, but doing so with separate tools adds cost and complexity. DevOps and IT teams face alert fatigue, complex setup, vendor lock-in, and seat-based licensing costs from existing incident management platforms. These groups want a simpler way to track outages, log incidents, and escalate alerts without paying per-seat fees or storing data in a proprietary system.

The Solution

SheetsDuty is a Google Workspace add-on that turns a Google Sheet into an uptime monitor and incident management system. A high-concurrency pinging engine checks endpoints every 60 seconds with a strict 4-second timeout, and detected outages automatically create rows in an `_INCIDENTS` sheet tab with status, timestamps, and latency data. On-call responders get email alerts with 1-click tokenized acknowledgment links, and unacknowledged incidents escalate sequentially to secondary and tertiary responders after a 10-minute timeout. A self-healing schema engine restores deleted `_INCIDENTS`, `_MONITORS`, or `_ALERTS` tabs automatically, and a 7-day log rotation prunes resolved incidents to keep the sheet fast. Team collaborators added as alert destinations in the sidebar inherit Pro features on the shared sheet without extra per-seat fees, and all data stays inside the user's own Google Sheet rather than a vendor's database.
