The Problem

Mac users who want to save video from the web today end up downloading entire files just to keep a short clip, wasting bandwidth and storage, or they rely on generic download managers that do not integrate with the browser or the notch area of newer MacBooks. Large files downloaded in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc can fail partway through and have to restart from scratch rather than resume. People also juggle separate tools for playing music, holding clipboard history and managing files waiting to be used, without one place that surfaces all of it alongside an active download.

The Solution

Lynx is a free-to-start download manager for Mac that adds a button to videos in the browser so users can download a file, choose a quality, or clip just the portion they need by dragging handles on a waveform. It downloads only the selected segment, for example turning a 35-second clip into an 11 MB file instead of a 255 MB full video, and supports up to 32 connections per file with pause and resume. A companion feature, Lynx Notch, lives in the MacBook notch and shows currently playing music, a shelf of saved files with previews, and clipboard history for text, screenshots and colours. The free tier allows 10 videos a day with unlimited files up to 1080p, while Pro (from $1.25 to $2.50 a month depending on plan) unlocks unlimited videos, higher quality, longer and more clip shapes, playlists, subtitles and faster simultaneous downloads.
