The Problem

Developers on macOS often see 100+ GB labeled as mysterious 'System Data' with no breakdown or way to clean it from Apple's own Storage settings. In reality this space is consumed by Docker virtual disks, Xcode DerivedData, AI model weights (Ollama, Hugging Face), node_modules folders in dormant projects, and package manager caches from npm, Cargo, pip, NuGet, and Homebrew. Generic cleaners like CleanMyMac and DaisyDisk only scan surface files and consumer caches, missing this developer-specific bloat entirely, so engineers are left manually hunting through hidden folders or simply running out of SSD space.

The Solution

SpaceWise scans the filesystem locally to identify and categorize developer storage bloat, breaking down Docker images and build cache, Xcode DerivedData and simulators, AI agent session logs (from Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor Agent, Windsurf), model checkpoints, and dormant node_modules or toolchain caches (Cargo, NuGet, pip, Gradle, Homebrew). Before recommending any deletion, it runs a four-layer safety check: lockfile verification, git commit activity detection, regenerability confirmation, and routes deletions through native OS Trash/Recycle Bin for one-click undo. It also includes a secrets scanner for AI session transcripts, a SHA-256 duplicate file finder, an interactive storage treemap, and a macOS menu bar companion for scheduled auto-clean with battery-aware pausing. All scanning and cleanup happen 100% on-device with zero telemetry and no network requests, making it usable in airgapped environments.
