The Problem

As AI foundation models become more capable, they still struggle to integrate naturally into roles built around human interaction, such as education, healthcare, public safety, law, and government. These roles demand the ability to converse, understand, and respond with the fluidity, awareness, and judgment humans expect. Current AI systems lack the interaction layer needed to participate fluently in the human world, limiting how well they can serve in these human-centric roles whether embodied in robots or operating everyday computer interfaces.

The Solution

Talking Computers is building multimodal interaction models specifically for voice agents, intended to serve as the interaction layer through which capable foundation models can engage with people. Rather than replacing foundation models, their systems provide the layer of voice, listening, and speech needed for natural human interaction. The company describes its early models as sitting at the Pareto frontier of intelligence and interactivity, with performance measured by time to first audio token, aiming to produce voice agents that are both highly capable and genuinely human-like.
