The Problem

People who travel frequently or live abroad typically rely on a single SIM-bound phone number, which breaks down when they swap local SIMs in each new country. This leaves them unable to receive SMS verification codes or messages from banks, employers or family unless someone back home reads texts aloud or they keep paying for international roaming. Teams face a similar problem when SMS-based codes or notifications need to reach shared tools rather than a single physical phone. The result is either expensive roaming, missed verification codes, or manual workarounds to get text messages into the apps people actually use.

The Solution

Tether Mobile issues phone numbers in the US, Canada, UK or Netherlands and forwards every incoming SMS to up to three destinations at once, chosen from Email, Telegram, LINE, Discord, and for business plans also Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zapier or webhooks. Users keep the same number as they change data SIMs while traveling, since delivery happens over Wi-Fi or data rather than the local carrier. US numbers are real mobile lines (not VoIP), which the site says makes them compatible with services that reject virtual numbers, while the Canada, UK and Netherlands numbers are virtual long numbers. Plans are inbound-only (no calls, texts, or data), start at $10/month with 50 SMS included, and offer porting of existing US numbers, multi-number discounts, and an annual billing option.
