The Problem

Buy-side analysts and portfolio managers who cover specific stocks often lack a way to compare notes with peers at other funds who have done similarly deep research on the same names, since most of this knowledge stays locked inside individual funds. Public market commentary and sell-side research are widely available, but candid, specific shareholder debate about a position is not. Analysts are left doing solitary work or relying on expert networks that are not run by other investment professionals. This means new perspectives on core positions are hard to find, and days of original fundamental work from other analysts goes unseen outside their own firm.

The Solution

Trata hosts one-on-one voice conversations between anonymous buy-side analysts and portfolio managers who are shareholders in the stocks being discussed, then transcribes them into a growing content library. Analysts can read unfiltered transcripts of past conversations, covering over 2,000 tickers, or connect directly with other vetted buy-side investors to lead their own conversation on a stock they cover. Every participant is manually vetted to confirm they are from the buy-side and have done substantial research on a name, and all users remain anonymous, with calls being voice-only. Trata also works directly with hedge fund compliance teams, letting participants review and redact transcripts before anything is published to screen out MNPI or fund-sensitive information.
