Trepo
Trepo is a kitchen device and app that tracks food on hand, builds shopping lists, and guides cooking without a phone.
The Problem
Households lose track of what food they already have, leading to buying duplicates like a third jar of cumin, shopping lists built from memory rather than what actually ran out, and leftovers that get forgotten and thrown away. Keeping the kitchen inventory in someone's head creates mental load, with texts like 'do we have eggs?' and one person acting as the default keeper of kitchen knowledge. Existing solutions require pulling out a phone, unlocking it, and typing, which is impractical with wet or floury hands or in the middle of cooking.
The Solution
Trepo is a physical device mounted on the fridge or countertop (via magnetic mount or included stand, powered by USB-C) paired with an app that tracks kitchen inventory and syncs across the household. Food gets logged by photographing a grocery receipt or the inside of the fridge, and updates can be made by voice or phone afterward. The device lets users add or remove grocery items by speaking, log leftovers or takeout by holding food up to it, estimate calories, protein, carbs and fat from a photo of a plate, and step through recipes hands free using a turning dial. The shopping list is shared live across everyone's phone and splits items by store, and the system flags food nearing spoilage by name so it gets used before it's wasted.
